Dr. José M. Miró is currently Senior Consultant of Infectious Diseases at the Hospital Clinic – IDIBAPS of Barcelona, Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Barcelona, and co-Director of the MASTER on AIDS of the University of Barcelona (Spain). His research fields are focused on infective endocarditis (including the experimental endocarditis model) and HIV/AIDS (Cohort studies, Primary HIV-1 infection, Opportunistic Infections, Clinical trials in Advanced Patients and Solid Organ Transplantation in HIV-1 infection). He has published more than 400 articles in peer-review journals. He was President of the “Spanish Working Group on AIDS” (GESIDA) from 1998 to 1999 and the Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Society of Catalonia (SCMIMC) from 2005 to 2006. He is currently HIV/AIDS Editor of the Spanish Journal of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (2002-14), Chair of the HIV/AIDS Advisory Board of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) (2010-12) and Vice-President of the Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (SEIMC)(2011-14).
