Betsy C. Herold, MD, FIDSA, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY

Dr. Herold graduated from Brown University in 1978 and from the University of Pa. Medical School in 1982 and then completed her pediatric residency and Chief Residency at Children's Memorial Hospital, Northwestern Unviersity and a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases and postdoctoral training in Virology with Patricia Spear at Northwestern. She is currently Vice Chair for Research and Professor of Pediatrics, Microbiology-Immunology and Ob-Gyn & Women's Health at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Children's Hospital at Montefiore. Her research interests include understanding how HSV and HIV interact and impact mucosal immunity in the genital tract and developing novel strategies to prevent both infections, focusing on development of safe and effective microbicides. She also helps direct the pediatric transplant ID clinical research program.
