At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • review new data from clinical trials supporting alternatives to 9-month isoniazid treatment for latent tuberculosis (TB) infection
  • provide updated recommendations for diagnosis and treatment of non-tuberculous mycobacterial disease
  • describe new molecular tools for diagnosis of TB, and discuss their role in the US and resource-limited settings
  • review latest data demonstrating major impact of TB and HIV diagnosis and treatment on mortality
  • describe the extent of MDR and XDR TB globally and explore its impact on US physicians caring for students, visitors and immigrants
