Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. discuss the scientific data supporting the use of contact precautions for all patients colonized with multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs)
  2. discuss the scientific data that does not support the use of contact precautions for all patients colonized with MDROs
  3. attempt to reconcile conflicting data and move toward a more nuanced approach to the management of patients colonized and infected with MDROs
