Biographic sketch
“Dr. Houck is a commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Service, having served with the Indian Health Service, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Centers for Medicare Services. Dr. Houck is a medical epidemiologist and former CDC Epidemic Intelligence Service officer. His clinical training is in family medicine and preventive medicine, with particular interests in the care of the elderly patients with infectious diseases, especially influenza and pneumonia. He was the CMS lead for Medicare’s National Pneumonia Project and National Surgical Infection Prevention Project, as well as for regional projects that address antimicrobial utilization and resistance.”
