At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • identify advances in our understanding of the management of MRSA infections in children, focusing on novel therapies and the host immune response to infection and strategies for intervention
  • compare treatment strategies for multidrug-resistant Gram-negative rod infections in children, evaluating the relative risks and benefits of new agents, extended infusion times, and new combinations of anti-infectives
  • discuss approaches for treatment and prophylaxis of antimicrobial resistant Candida infections in children
