Reynaldo Dietze, MD, D.Sc., Social Medicine and Epidemiology, Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, Vitória, Brazil

Dr. Dietze is Associate Professor IV of Medicine and Infectious Diseases and Director of the Núcleo de Doenças Infeccioas at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), Vitória, ES, Brazil. He was also the former President of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine, Clinical Trial Coordinator of the Brazilian Tuberculosis Research Network, Member of the Tuberculosis Committee at the TB National Program/Ministry of Health, Director for Research and Technology Development of the Brazilian AIDS program, Consulting Associate Professor of Medicine at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC, USA. He has also been involved in several phase I/II/III clinical trials in Infectious Diseases such as tuberculosis, schistosomiasis, leishmaniasis, sporotrichosis and HIV. Since 1990 Dr. Dietze has led a multidisciplinary team of investigators studying epidemiology, microbiology, molecular biology and immunology of infectious diseases. Dr. Dietze has also field experience in Tropical Medicine acting as physician in edemic areas of malaria, schistosomiasis and leihmaniasis for 4 years.
