Richard Whitley, MD, FIDSA, Pediatrics, Division of Infectious Diseases, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, AL

Dr. Whitley is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He holds the Loeb Chair of Pediatrics and is a Professor of Pediatrics, Microbiology, Medicine and Neurosurgery. His research interests focus on herpes virus infection -- diagnosis, pathogenesis, treatment and prevention. He also engineers herpes simplex virus for gene therapy
