David Pegues, MD, is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and is the Medical Director of Healthcare Epidemiology, Infection Prevention and Control and Co-Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. His research interests include the epidemiology of vancomycin resistant and daptomycin non-susceptible enterococci; prevention and treatment of opportunistic infections in organ transplant recipients; device-associated infections, including CAUTI; novel infection control technologies to reduce environmental microbial contamination and infection risk; and the epidemiology of Burkholderia cepacia complex in persons with cystic fibrosis.
