David N Gilbert MD MACP
David Gilbert is a Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health Science University, Portland, Oregon, USA. He is also Chief of the Infectious Diseases Program at the Providence Portland Medical Center and Providence Health Care Delivery System, Portland and the Director of the Earle A. Chiles Research Institute, Providence Portland Medical Center, Portland.
His work with the Infectious Disease Program encompasses clinical consultation, clinical microbiology, hospital epidemiology, collaboration with the infectious diseases regional viral molecular diagnostics referral laboratory, advising on the antimicrobial portion of system drug formulary, and medical student/resident infectious diseases training.
David Gilbert has had a long involvement with activities of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA), and was its President from 2001-2002. He is currently a member of the IDSA task force on Molecuar Diagnostics. He is also a principal co-investigator for the IDSA’s Emerging Infection Network.
Dr. Gilbert is senior editor of the Sanford Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy which is updated annually and distributed worldwide.
He has published extensively (over 120 articles in peer-reviewed journals, 200 abstracts and several books) and is a reviewer for Journal of Infectious Disease,
Clinical Infectious Diseases, Annals of Internal Medicine, New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, and Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences.
