Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • describe the process for establishing immunization policy at the global level
  • using examples of recent vaccine policy decisions, explain the basis for those decision and what factors led to those policy developments
  • describe current major policy deliberations of the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on immunization for the World Health Organization
  • outline vaccines currently under development for use in developing countries that show promise of being available in the near furture term
