Invasive fungal infections have become a grave concern, complicating patient management. Timely and appropriate diagnosis and management of these infections remain a challenge. Understanding common patient factors associated with invasive fungal infections can help raise the index of suspicion and enable timely and appropriate diagnosis and management of these challenging infections. This presentation provides an update on the most commonly encountered invasive fungal infection— candidemia—with a focus on epidemiology, risk factors, and diagnosis. The presentation also reviews what is known about the clinical and economic impact of candidemia.
