Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • discuss and apply updated information on diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections
  • assess and utilize current trends in viral hepatitis diagnosis and treatment, HIV care, treatment of transplant-associated infections, and tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment
  • identify common mechanisms of antibiotic resistance and effective components of antimicrobial stewardship programs
  • describe and implement components of effective infection control programs
  • discuss and apply updated information on diagnosis and treatment of bone and joint infections
  • identify the most common non-infectious causes of fever
  • discuss common parasitic disease infections including their diagnosis and treatment
  • explain the causes and treatment modalities of tick-borne infections
  • review infectious causes of diarrhea, including C. difficile
