William M. Geisler, M.D., M.P.H, is a Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He went to college and medical school at the University of Tennessee. He completed Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Michigan and an Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Washington, where he also obtained an MPH in Epidemiology. He has an established chlamydia research program funded by federal and non-federal sources. Dr. Geisler more recently expanded his research program to include Mycoplasma genitalium infections. He almost 20 years of clinical experience in the evaluation and management of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and provides STI education and training through the Alabama-North Carolina STD/HIV Prevention Training Center. He is on the editorial board of Sexually Transmitted Diseases and has served as an expert consultant for the CDC and WHO.
