Katherine Allen-Bridson, RN, BSN, MScPH, CIC, Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, GA

Katherine Allen-Bridson is a Nurse Consultant with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP) Surveillance Branch (SB) where she is lead of the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) Protocol and Validation Team. Her responsibilities include overseeing development of surveillance definitions, protocols and modules for healthcare-associated infections (HAI) as well as training and support of NHSN members in their use. She also collaborates with governmental and non-governmental agencies dealing with HAI reporting and regulation. Kathy has over 30 years of professional experience including direct patient care, as an Infection Control Nurse at a large teaching hospital, as the state coordinator of an international infectious disease surveillance project, and has been with the CDC since 2008. Kathy is a published author in the field of infection control. Her BSN is from the University of Michigan and her Masters of Science in Public Health is from the University of London’s School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
