Dr. Rima Abdel-Massih, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). She joined the Transplant Infectious Diseases group at UPMC in 2009 upon completion of a transplant infectious diseases Fellowship at Mayo Clinic. In 2013 she became the Associate Program Director of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program at UPMC and in 2016 she was promoted to Program Director. Dr. Abdel-Massih has special interest in developing and instituting models of telemedicine services in infectious diseases. She became Director of Telemedicine Services in the division of Infectious Diseases in 2016 and has been leading the growth of the program regionally. Currently she is working with other clinical directors on piloting different Infectious Diseases Telehealth related initiatives. Her other clinical interests include infections in solid organ transplant recipients as well as infections related to artificial heart devices.
