Heather Evans, MD, MS, Surgery, Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, WA

Dr. Heather Evans is Associate Professor in the Division of Trauma, Burn and Critical Care Surgery at the University of Washington. Since 2012, she has led a multidisciplinary team, investigating the role of mobile health (mHealth) interventions for the early detection and treatment of surgical site infections (SSI). These collaborations led to the creation of an mHealth platform with a smartphone app for patients and a web-based dashboard for providers to facilitate improved post-discharge data sharing of surgical wound symptoms and wound photography. Dr. Evans is currently co-principal investigator on a CDC-sponsored health technology assessment of the use of patient generated health data with mHealth for the detection and monitoring of SSI.
