Liise-Anne Pirofski, MD, FIDSA, Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY

Dr. Pirofski earned her BA at UC Berkeley and her MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She did her residency in internal medicine at Bellevue Hospital and NYU Medical Center and her fellowship in infectious diseases and post-doctoral training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She is professor of Medicine, Microbiology and Immunology and the Selma and Jacques Mitrani Professor of Biomedical Research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Since 2006, Dr. Pirofski has been Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. She has had a longstanding NIH funded research program on immunity to encapsulated pathogens and is currently an editor of mBio and Infection and Immunity. Dr. Pirofski is a member of the Association of American Physicians and American Academy of Microbiology and a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the American College of Physicians, American Academy of Microbiology, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
