Lourdes Eguiguren, MD, Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Stanford University, Stanford, CA

Dr. Eguiguren is a second-year Pediatric Infectious Disease Fellow at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Stanford University. She underwent medical training at San Francisco University in Quito, Ecuador. Before her residency training she worked as a Clinical Research Fellow in the Sports-Neuroendocrine laboratory with Madhusmita Misra, MD, MPH at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. She was also awarded participation in the “Principles and Practice of Clinical Research” course at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Eguiguren completed residency training in Pediatrics at Mayo Clinic. Her current research focuses on understanding the epidemiology of antifungal utilization in children with cancer and identifying risk factors for inappropriate use. Her long-term goal is to develop innovative approaches to the threat of antimicrobial resistance especially in complex populations like the immunocompromised host.
