I attended the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. After residency I became an Infectious Diseases Fellow at University of California, San Francisco where I began a research career in parasitology. I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University, then was faculty at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and I now am a tenured professor at University of South Florida.
