Brooke K. Decker, MD, CIC, University Hospitals Case Medical Center, Cleveland, OH

Born in Baltimore City, and in spite of successfully completing an Infectious Diseases Fellowship Dr. Brooke Decker is a huge fan of seafood, including delicacies as microbiologically dubious as sushi and morally ambiguous as steamed Maryland blue crab. She received her medical degree from the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland where she was fortunate to spend time with Dr. Robert Bonomo studying the clonality of Acientobacter. She completed a dual fellowship in Infectious Diseases and Critical care. While at NIH she participated in the Hospital Epidemiology Service under Dr. Tara Palmore and assisted in preparing to provide Critical Care Services to patients with Ebolavirus disease. While at NIH she completed a study as the primary investigator on a study identifying healthcare provider carriage of resistant organisms. She joined the VA Pittsburgh in 2014 as the Director of Infection Prevention where she studies detection and prevention of Legionnaire's disease.
